David Giffin MPAGB FBPE
I first took a keen interest in photography when I was in my teens after being bought my first SLR camera as a birthday present. This taught me the basics of exposure, aperture and lighting.
I have been brought up in a household where looking at exhibition pictures from a very early age was everyday life. My father belonged to some of the large London photo clubs and was a strong influence on the way I perceived photography, not as a happy snapper but as a form of Art. This style of Photography was normal and looking back this must have been a foundation for me in later life when I seriously recommenced Competition Photography. I am now in my 40's and after owning several different makes & models of camera over the years I have now settled with Nikon.
It is only after joining Bury St.Edmunds Photographic Club 5 years ago that I was enthused by fellow club members and started to slowly learn the art of using Image Editing Software of which I am self taught after many long hours!! My style of photography is quite varied from Landscapes, Creative to Macro. I now regularly enter National Exhibitions within the British Exhibition circuit.
I have worked in the Audio Home Entertainment industry since I started work.
I am married with 2 children that keeps me busy and in my spare time I compete in Cycling Time Trials and long distance endurance racing although my passion for photography has increasingly reduced the amount of time I spend in the saddle!
